Frequently asked questions

Q: What does Kafakumba Christian School offer its students?
The goal of Kafakumba Christian School is to provide the students with free opportunities that they would otherwise not receive:
  • Opportunity to Learn About God - The foundation of Kafakumba Christian School is to show the students God's love. Their daily lessons include Bible stories, memory verses, and prayer, while classroom practices are based on scripture. We also emphasize the importance of family devotions and attending church to the students' parents or guardians.
  • Opportunity for Personalized Education - At Kafakumba Christian School, we limit our class sizes so that we can provide the students with individualized attention in order to ensure success in their education.
  • Opportunity for Safety - The closest government school for these children is on the other side of a main highway. Most of our students would not attend because of the financial burden of school fees, uniforms, and school supplies. Without school, most children are left unsupervised.
  • Opportunity to Be Healthy - Along with the core education, we instruct our students in personal hygiene practices and safety. We monitor and care for their illnesses, and follow up on the care they receive at the local clinic. We also provide them with two nutritious meals a day with vitamin supplements once a week.

Q: How is my donation used?
Your donation will allow us to continue to give these students access to free education, nutritious meals, and the Word of God. It will first and foremost be used to cover the costs of two meals a day, five days a week for each student. Any donations received above the basic budget needs of the school will be used for:
  • Locally-made uniforms, raincoats, and jackets
  • Curriculum materials and classroom supplies
  • Sports equipment and facility maintenance

Q: Can I contact the student I sponsor?
Absolutely! Unfortunately, mail can take several months to get to and from Zambia. E-mail is recommended if you would like to contact to the student you are sponsoring. You will receive correspondence once a term (3 times a year) from your sponsored student in the form of an e-mail or scanned letter.

Q: How long do I have to sponsor a student? What happens if I discontinue my sponsorship?
We welcome any time commitment to sponsoring a student, whether it be a month or through the end of a school year.

We recognize that circumstances change, and you can discontinue your sponsorship anytime. Even if you discontinue your sponsorship, the student will continue to receive education and meals, just as he or she was before, and we will begin to look for another sponsor for the student.

Q: What is Kafakumba Christian School doing to become self-sustainable?
Kafakumba Christian School is partnering on projects that will provide both income for local farmers as well as support for the school. We are very excited about an upcoming chicken house project, where the chickens are raised hormone-free and fed aloe grown on Kafakumba property as a natural supplement. The chickens will be raised by local farmers and sold locally.

Q: Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Your donation is made through Enright Foundational Ministries, a registered 501(c)(3) organization and the sponsor of Kafakumba Christian School.
